Dogfish Head Punkin Ale

Before I tried this beer, I must admit that I was a bit skeptical. Over the years I tried several different pumpkin beers, but none of which I found to be particularly tasty. Typically they are too sweet, and it tastes like you’re drinking a liquid pumpkin pie or something. Not that I don’t like pumpkin pies, but when I drink a beer, I expect it to sort of taste like beer, and guess what, this Dogfish Head Punkin Ale does just that! This beer, a full-bodied brown ale, has a slight taste of pumpkin and brown sugar.

Might as well buy a whole case....

It is also quite a strong beer (7% by vol), which I think is a key feature of this beer. Apart from the fact that the extra 2% of alcohol will make you drunker, it also helps in bringing out the pumpkin and brown sugar flavor out of the beer, without making it to sweet. I’ll give this beer 4 out of 5 possible pumpkins. By far the best pumpkin beer I’ve tried so far.  Review by Master P. a.k.a. “The Swede”
