Jolly Pumpkin Brewing Company “La Roja” Ale
Posted By I Love Pumpkins on October 22, 2008
Jolly Pumpkin’s red barrel-aged Flemish style ale smells malty and tastes almost like a cider with its small carbonation. It has a sour front but goes down very smooth, and ends with a fantastic cherry-strawberry finish.
I’ll tell you a secret though: this beer is not a pumpkin beer and isn’t meant to be. But hey, any brewery named Jolly Pumpkin is a friend of mine! Plus we had such a good time tasting it at City Beer Store with Beth and Craig that it deserves a review. Overall Jolly Pumpkin appears to have a sophisticated portfolio of beers.
Can it get 5 out of 5 pumpkins… even though there’s no pumpkin in it? You decide!
